Our Heritage Matters
In the 1830s a Plantation, the largest known in the area, spanning DeKalb, Clayton, and Henry Counties. Owned by Colonel John H. Ellenwood, was destroyed in the Civil War and later rebuilt.
Early communities were formed, by freed slaves from the Henry County area. Howeverwe, the County Lin Community now celebrate and appreciate our heritage with community pride, history, and togetherness. For generations the South DeKalb Community of Ellenwood, GA live out their dreams of homeownership, working to create businesses, schools, and churches for future generations to be proud of their heritage.
For this reason, the Community Group, area churches and local businesses and associates hold our Annual County Line Ellenwood Community Day. A community wide-Family Reunion which allows families to experience the culture and spirit of this community created in the 1800s.
